Abandoned cars, Catanzaro can (and must) free itself from decay
Since the beginning of the year, the Local Police have already removed over sixty abandoned vehicles from the city's streets. A valuable operation, which deserves praise and, at the same time, an invitation: intensify the intervention.
The cars left to rot along the sides of the capital's streets are not only an eyesore from an aesthetic point of view, but they also unnecessarily occupy precious parking spaces, contributing to urban chaos. Just take a walk down via Carlo V to realize it: several rusted carcasses, covered in leaves and mud, with flat tires, and worn-out bodywork.
But the situation is no different in many other city streets and in the suburbs. They are not hard to recognize: they have been sitting there for months, sometimes years, in an evident state of abandonment.
A simple but effective idea could be to set up a team dedicated to systematically surveying these vehicles, or even better, dedicate a phone number so that citizens themselves can report those present on the streets where they live. This would certainly be a more widespread and therefore more effective control. Each removal equals a parking spot gained and a piece of the city restored to decorum.
Catanzaro needs care, and this is one of those concrete actions that can make the difference.
