As part of the activities planned by IC Cropani - Simeri Crichi, this year, the
School Principal, Prof. Antonio Bulotta, wanted to set up for the fourth grade classes of the
primary school, some UDAs that, through real-life tasks, would encourage students to
put into practice the knowledge acquired in order to demonstrate the skills they have developed. On June 5th
at 4:00 pm, therefore, in the gym of the Simeri Crichi primary school, the event
“Graf-chat: languages meet” took place, an exhibition organized by the children of
classes 4^A and 4^B and their respective teachers, coordinated by teachers Adriana Maria Nagero
and Carmina Patamia. This initiative represented an important moment for the entire
school community, an opportunity to highlight the creativity and originality of the
children, who worked with enthusiasm and passion throughout the school year. Along
the educational path, the young students had the opportunity to explore and
experiment with different ways of communicating, combining art, writing, technology, and visual
languages. They learned that messages can be conveyed not only with words,
but also through drawings, symbols, colors, and digital tools, thus creating a real
dialogue between different expressive languages. But that's not all! The children also
demonstrated their skills in traditional dance, performing an engaging tarantella
performance, also entertaining everyone present. Furthermore, they illustrated step by step
how to make bread and pasta at home, with simple and clear explanations, sharing with
everyone a piece of their culture and local traditions. The exhibition was a moment of
great emotion, when the children presented their creations, which were
the result of a journey of discovery and experimentation through their works; the young
artists told stories, emotions, and ideas, showing how languages can
meet and enrich each other. A very important aspect of this exhibition was
that the proceeds from the small works on display will be donated to help children living
in war situations thanks to the support of one of our nuns, originally from Simeri Crichi and
on mission in Ukraine, Sister Francesca Canino. Our little ones have also taught the
grown-ups the value of solidarity and mutual help, making sure that their creations
can also bring a smile and concrete help to those who need it most. The parents and
everyone present appreciated the talent and creativity of the children who brought to life
a real “dialogue between languages.”
