As part of the State Police's actions to combat all forms of illegality, Personal Prevention Measures aimed at containing the behavior of people considered socially dangerous and reducing the risk of recidivism that could lead to the commission of crimes and cause public alarm are becoming increasingly important.
The attention paid to the study and analysis of illegal phenomena occurring in the area allows for a deeper understanding of the dynamics with which they take place and, therefore, greater focus on the individuals believed to be responsible, assessing their conduct and social dangerousness.
In recent days, 4 D.A.C.Ur. measures have been notified to as many individuals.
The measures were issued by the Chief of Police of Catanzaro, as the Public Security Authority, who, having assessed the seriousness of the incidents and the risk of recurrence, based on the investigation carried out by the Prevention Measures Section of the Anti-Crime Police Division, ordered the application, for a period of 3 years, of a ban on access to premises and public establishments located in the immediate vicinity of the places where the crime was committed.
The recipients of the D.A.C.UR. measures are three people, aged 27, 63, and 64, residents of Lamezia Terme, with various criminal and police records. Last May, the three men took part in a brawl in one of the central and busy streets of Lamezia Terme, hitting each other and others with kicks, punches, and insults. For these criminally relevant behaviors, they were reported to the Judicial Authority by the Lamezia Terme Carabinieri Company.
The fourth D.A.C.UR. was notified to a 26-year-old from Catanzaro, who has a final and irrevocable conviction and numerous criminal and police records, all related to drugs. Over the years, the young man has been reported several times to the Judicial Authority by both the Carabinieri and the General Prevention and Public Aid Office of the
Catanzaro Police Headquarters. In the most recent incident last May, the 26-year-old was arrested in the act of committing the crime of drug possession with intent to sell, in collaboration with others, by the Bellamena Carabinieri Station of Catanzaro, during a territory control operation.
The D.A.C.UR. measures are also known as "Daspo Willy," so named in memory of the very young Willy Monteiro Duarte who, intervening to defend a friend attacked by some people, was killed in a brutal beating in Colleferro (Rome) in September 2020.
