The Politeama Theater of Catanzaro has been admitted to the contribution of the National Fund for Live Performance (FNSV), among musical organizations, with reference to ordinary opera activities. Confirmation came from the publication of the decree by the General Director of Entertainment regarding the interventions financed within the FNSV—in which the Politeama appears in the list of first applications for the three-year period 2025-2027—which concern the promotion and support of events and initiatives of national character and relevance. Catanzaro, with its public theater, thus fully enters the network of Italian institutions recognized by the Ministry of Culture in a segment, that of opera, which the Politeama Foundation has strongly wanted to relaunch with an eye to the future. The news was announced by the President of the Foundation, Nicola Fiorita, the General Director, Settimio Pisano, and the Superintendent and Artistic Director Antonietta Santacroce.
“As a beneficiary entity, the theater will be committed to producing two operas annually, involving artists and professionals of recognized quality and competence and offering the territory the opportunity to generate important cultural, economic, and social spin-offs,” say the Politeama's top management. “With ministerial recognition, in fact, the Politeama will have the opportunity to better raise awareness among cultural 'patrons' through access to the Art Bonus, the tool that allows a tax credit equal to 65% of the donated amount to those who make charitable contributions in support of Italian public cultural heritage. It is not only a source of pride; access to the FNSV is above all a challenge and an investment for the future: the Politeama's proposal was also rewarded for its great attention to involving young talents in opera performances, for the training and educational activities that will involve the city's schools, and for the listening education paths aimed at bringing all audience groups closer to Opera. A commitment that will require great organizational efforts—they conclude—but with the awareness that the Politeama can carve out a role as a cultural reference point for all of Calabria and open new important paths among the national realities that continue to enhance and support the great tradition of opera.”
