Friday, June 13, 2025, at 6:30 pm, at the MARCA Museum of Arts in Catanzaro, on Via Alessandro Turco, the catalog "Alessandro Russo. Works 1990-2025" will be presented, published on the occasion of the anthological exhibition dedicated to the artist, curated by Marco Meneguzzo. Free admission. The volume, published by Dario Cimorelli Editore, documents thirty-five years of Alessandro Russo's activity, establishing itself as a true mid-career book of the artist. A cultured and conscious painter, Russo embodies the characteristics of both the 'vedutista' and the 'painter of modern life.' His painting is openly traditional, reminiscent of the eighteenth-century fantasies of 'capricci' as well as the glimpses of city life of the post-impressionists, yet always attentive to what happened during the twentieth century. From his experiments thus arises a kind of 'genre painting' of the new millennium, which shows how the classic themes of visual art are such because they are 'evergreen,' beyond any technological innovation. Through images, an essay by the curator, a substantial critical anthology, and scientific apparatus, the volume recounts the evolution of a poetics that transforms classical genres into living tools, capable of renewing themselves. The presentation, coordinated by professional journalist Luigi Stanizzi, will feature speeches by prestigious cultural authorities. The highly authoritative curator of the catalog, Marco Meneguzzo, will participate remotely, with technical support from Tea Mancuso. Journalists, collectors, and cultural and institutional authorities will be present. The debate will be enlivened by questions to the artist from journalist Francesco Stanizzi, who will draw inspiration from the catalog contributions of Wanda Ferro, Mario Amedeo Mormile, Francesco Fragomele, Marco Meneguzzo, Nicola Fiorita. The artist, thanking all the protagonists of the event, highlights, among others already mentioned, the President of the Board of Directors of Credito Cooperativo Centro Calabria Dr. Giuseppe Spagnuolo and the CEO of Omnia Bank of Service srl Carmine De Simone. The event, of the highest level, marks the conclusion of the exhibition. Immediately afterwards, Alessandro Russo will leave Catanzaro for other prestigious artistic commitments in Italy and abroad.
