
The President of the Province, Mario Amedeo Mormile, announces a major exhibition of the world-renowned master of “Dècollage”
The capital of Calabria is preparing for a major cultural event, strongly desired by the President of the Province of Catanzaro, Mario Amedeo Mormile, which will be held at the Mediterranean Biodiversity Park, recently dedicated to "Michele Traversa": Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 6:00 pm, unveiling ceremony of the bronze bust of Mimmo Rotella created by the sculptor Luigi Verrino, and press conference on the setup of a prestigious retrospective exhibition of Rotella's works, coming from the Verrino Collection. The bronze sculpture depicting Mimmo Rotella, which will enrich the Biodiversity Park - International Sculpture Park, and the unprecedented exhibition will attract the attention of artists and visitors from all over the world.
The program includes, at the Papilla restaurant inside the Park, speeches by the
President of the Regional Council of Calabria Filippo Mancuso, the Director of the Academy of Fine Arts Virgilio Piccari, the Municipal Councillor for Culture Donatella Monteverdi, the Sculptor Luigi Verrino, and the President of the Province Mario Amedeo Mormile, who will conclude the event; the professional journalist Luigi Stanizzi will moderate. The public is invited to attend. Mimmo Rotella, an artist born in Catanzaro and of worldwide fame, was linked to the movements of Nouveau Réalisme and international Pop Art. His most famous artistic technique is the renowned “Dècollage”, first experimented after his trips abroad, establishing him as the artist of cut and paste. The International Sculpture Park (also known as Marca Open) is an open-air museum, among the most important, located within the Mediterranean Biodiversity Park, the urban garden of the city of Catanzaro. It consists of a collection of sculptures conceived by internationally renowned artists, acquired by the Province of Catanzaro.
