Deputy Mayor Iemma emphasizes “the importance of coordinating support actions for disability”
"We are proud to announce the launch of the first UVMs linked to Life Projects, a significant milestone for our Department and for the entire community. This is a concrete step towards truly personalized care, which puts the person, their desires, needs, and potential at the center.”
With these words, the Councillor for Social Policies, Nunzio Belcaro, commented on the first Multidimensional Evaluation Unit meeting, which brings together Social Services, the Health District, various professionals including doctors, social workers, physiatrists, nurses, as well as the families of applicants who responded to the public notice, their teachers, and other people who provide support activities.
A composite table, due to the particular nature of the Life Projects, which aims at the inclusion of adults with disabilities through the coordination of the various, individual support actions by the many actors dedicated to the same goal.
"I wish to thank all those involved," added Belcaro, "for the collaboration and seriousness with which we are building, together, an intervention model based on listening, shared responsibility, and the dignity of the person. A joint effort launched thanks to the daily encouragement of Mayor Fiorita, made concrete by the Social Policies sector, directed by Antonino Ferraiolo, who could count on the constant and fruitful operational contribution of the Asp commissioner, Antonio Battistini. Not to mention the commitment that City Councilor Rosario Lostumbo has never failed to provide. Ours is a complex challenge," concluded the Councillor, "but it is also the only possible way if we want to guarantee inclusive and truly transformative paths, capable of making a difference in the daily lives of the most vulnerable people."
The Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Relations with the Health System, Giusy Iemma, wanted to emphasize "the consistency with which the city government has pursued, since its inception, the goal of making Catanzaro an inclusive city. A goal," she added, "as noble as it is difficult to achieve, avoiding falling into empty rhetoric. Actions must be concrete and must produce results. Today's is, and it is a very important result, because the various support actions for capacity, starting from their quality and effectiveness, risk, in the absence of coordination, not being able to fully express all their positive potential for the beneficiaries.”
