President Gerlando Cuffaro presented him with a commemorative plaque: "To him, our most sincere best wishes and our
gratitude for the example he continues to set."
CATANZARO – A century of life and a long career in the service of engineering and the community:
the Order of Engineers of the province of Catanzaro celebrated the 100th birthday of engineer Nedo
Varano, a long-standing member and respected figure in the local professional scene, with the presentation of a
commemorative plaque.
The plaque was presented to the honoree by the president of the Order, Gerlando Cuffaro, who wanted to
pay tribute to Eng. Varano for his exemplary personal and professional journey:
"With great joy we celebrated this important milestone in the life of our dear friend and colleague
Nedo Varano. I have always considered him an attentive, prepared engineer, always willing
to listen and always ready to offer his contribution, both professionally and in
friendship and solidarity."
During his speech, President Cuffaro also recalled the personal ties that
bind him to the Varano family, particularly with the engineer's niece, Marinella Marino –
also a highly respected engineer and teacher, who passed away prematurely – and her daughter,
Eng. Paola Russo, who today carries on with dedication and passion the moral and
professional legacy of her mother.
"On behalf of the entire Council of the Order of Engineers of Catanzaro," concluded the president, "
I wish to renew to Eng. Varano our most sincere best wishes and our gratitude for the example
he continues to set for our professional community."
A simple but meaningful gesture to celebrate not only an extraordinary milestone
of age, but also an entire life dedicated to engineering and the values of the profession.
