Mayor Nicola Fiorita met with the Amici del Porto association to take stock of the pontoon issue. Representing the Administration with Fiorita were Deputy Mayor Giusy Iemma, Public Works Councillor Pasquale Squillace, Councillors Palaia and Carpino, as well as the Technical Area Coordinator, Giovanni Laganà. With the Amici del Porto, led by President Tonino Russo, was Francesco Pitaro, the association's legal counsel.
The meeting took place in a climate of constructive dialogue, with both parties excluding any confrontation. The common goal is first and foremost to find a solution for the one hundred and seventy boaters, at least for the 2025 summer season.
The occasion was useful to reiterate how, already in May 2024, the city council, through formal acts of guidance, created the conditions to implement port activities, through the creation of new pontoons and the start of launching and hauling services.
Regarding the impasse in which the pontoons managed by the private company have found themselves, an impasse caused by the dispute that arose over the renewal of the concession, Palazzo De Nobili communicated that the offices are working intensively on possible technical and administrative solutions to ensure, in the summer season that has just begun, the continued presence of boats in the Lido port. This is also in consideration of the fact that, as the boaters reiterated, there are no physically alternative solutions at other ports.
Contacts between the Municipality and Amici del Porto will continue steadily in the coming days, always in the climate of constructive dialogue recorded today.
