A precious opportunity to promote young talents of bel canto from all over the world within the prestigious showcase of the Teatro Politeama in Catanzaro. The San Francesco di Paola International Opera Competition, now in its XVII edition - organized by the Orchestra del Mediterraneo Association in collaboration with the historic Orfeo Stillo Musical Association – for the first time made a stop in the regional capital city for an initiative that, in the selection phase, attracted many international candidates ready to compete for the prizes at stake. Auditions are underway by the jury of experts led by Luigi Stillo - President of the Orchestra del Mediterraneo Association - which also includes the Superintendent of the Politeama, Antonietta Santacroce, together with musicians and artistic directors of theaters such as Vincenzo De Vivo, Gianluca Marcianò, Raffaella Murdolo, Marco Tutino, and Giovanni Vegeto. The winning singers will perform tomorrow, Tuesday, June 10, at 9:00 pm, on the occasion of the Grand Opera Gala, accompanied on piano by Maestro Amedeo Salvato, artistic coordinator of the Opera School of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. In addition to cash scholarships, finalists who pass the last hurdle will also be awarded Special Prizes from the Royal Opera House – Muscat (Oman), Teatro Sociale di Como – Aslico, Teatro Verdi – Pisa, Lerici Music Festival, and the Teatro Politeama itself in Catanzaro. An important moment of training and growth for many emerging voices in the opera scene – as highlighted by Giusy Ferrara, Organizational Director of the Competition – which at the same time represents an opportunity for promotion and economic impact for the territory as well.
