There are four Special Public Security Surveillance measures issued by the Court of Catanzaro, which accepted the proposals of the Catanzaro Chief of Police, resulting from thorough and detailed investigative activities conducted by the Prevention Measures Section of the Anti-Crime Police Division, against people residing in the city and province, suspected of the crimes of abuse and stalking against cohabitants and ex-partners.

Of the 4 preventive measures, of Special Public Security Surveillance, lasting three years, issued by the Court of Catanzaro – Second Criminal Section, three were ordered for the crimes of domestic abuse and one for the crime of stalking. The four recipients must comply with a series of obligations and prohibitions provided by the specific regulation, including the prohibition of approaching the injured party and the places frequented by them, and the prohibition of communicating with the victim by any means, including postal, telephone, or telematic means.

Furthermore, for the entire duration of the Special Surveillance, they must report to the Public Security authority twice a week.

According to current legislation, their identity documents valid for expatriation have been withdrawn.

The measure of Special Public Security Surveillance for serious indications regarding the crime of stalking against his ex-partner was adopted against a 64-year-old man from Montepaone, who repeatedly engaged in various harassing and persecutory behaviors over time, with serious threats, insults, and even physical violence, both during the romantic relationship and after its termination.

The three measures of Special Public Security Surveillance for serious indications regarding the crime of domestic abuse were adopted against two residents of Soverato, a 29-year-old and a 47-year-old, who, to the detriment of their respective cohabiting partners, repeatedly engaged in various abusive behaviors over time, seriously harassing, threatening, insulting, and brutally physically assaulting them, in a disturbing escalation. For the same conduct, Special Surveillance was issued against a 30-year-old from Catanzaro for violence committed against his ex-partner both during the romantic relationship and after its termination.

In our legal system, the so-called "Red Code" law has introduced preventive tools, supplemented by further laws, which allow the Chief of Police, as the Public Security Authority, to assess the violent conduct and social danger of the abusive subject, and in addition to being able to issue personal preventive measures of a warning nature, in case of repeated violent conduct, may propose to the Court the application of the more severe measure of Special Surveillance.
