The call for expressions of interest aimed at owners of vacant properties, with a specific focus on the area of Corso Mazzini and the surrounding streets, closed on Sunday, May 25, 2025. As a result of the notice, as many as 11 proposals were submitted by property-owning citizens, demonstrating the effectiveness of the initiative undertaken and the clear willingness of the local community to collaborate on a path of regeneration and enhancement of our urban center.
“I would like to take this opportunity,” said the Councillor for Productive Activities, Giuliana Furrer, “to sincerely thank all the owners who participated, because, as I have always maintained, it is only through a climate of collaboration between the public and private sectors that we can achieve the ambitious results we all aim for. The participation obtained is an encouraging sign, confirming that we have taken a shared and strategically sound direction.
We are now entering the second phase of the project, which involves direct meetings with the proposers to jointly assess the operational methods for continuing the initiative. At the same time, a new notice will be published for businesses, associations, and business networks interested in investing in the identified areas, thus giving continuity and substance to this important project.
I would also like to highlight with pleasure that, following the dissemination of the news, numerous requests for information have been received from economic operators and potential investors, showing curiosity and interest in the initiative. A first, fundamental objective can therefore be said to have been achieved: rekindling interest and entrepreneurial spirit towards our historic center, an area that, despite the difficulties, continues to exert a strong attractive power.
Finally, I believe it is important to emphasize that, although the call for expressions of interest has formally closed, the possibility remains open—and I strongly hope for this—for further owners of vacant properties to indicate their willingness to agree to reduced rents, in order to be included in a database that will be made available to the Administration for this and future actions aimed at the economic and commercial reactivation of the city.
Our commitment continues with determination, in the belief that urban regeneration and the revival of the local economy depend on synergy between institutions, citizens, and businesses.”
