From the total revolution in the technical-management trio to the renewal of the squad after the splendid season experienced as a newcomer from Serie C. Over the summer, there were profound changes at Catanzaro so much so that in the first months several difficulties emerged, with victories not coming and the doubts of the fans growing more and more. But Fabio Caserta, the man chosen by the club to take on the heavy legacy left by Vincenzo Vivarini, never lost his way and, by working hard, was gradually able to give the team a well-defined playing identity—identifying the 3-5-2 as the ideal setup to maintain a certain balance and get the best out of every player at his disposal—banishing all doubts related to his past as coach of Cosenza and immediately succeeding in something that seemed truly unthinkable on the eve: repeating what his predecessor had done (albeit finishing the regular season in sixth place instead of fifth) with safety achieved well in advance and reaching the play-offs, which ended just a few days ago with elimination in the semifinals against Spezia after yet another courageous and high-intensity performance of the season.
Confirming themselves was very difficult and was a recurring thought at the top of the three hills. Nevertheless, the Eagles managed to do it with another praiseworthy campaign, once again reaping the rewards of careful planning by the club led by owner Noto who, without ever overdoing it and with clear ideas, has built solid foundations over the past few years. Iemmello and his teammates faced every match honoring the yellow-red shirt to the fullest, achieving great satisfaction such as the second consecutive win in Palermo, the first home defeat handed to La Spezia, the crazy victories against Brescia thanks to truly steely character, and above all the historic rout in the derby with their eternal rivals Cosenza. The memorable moments of the season, which ended two weeks later than the normal end of the regular season, were many and truly exciting. The most moving came at the end of the second leg of the play-off semifinal with the proud embrace of the yellow-red people to the staff and players. The picture of another outstanding championship. And the hope now is that the dream, which faded for the second year in a row just one step from the play-off final, has only been postponed. So onwards, with heads held high and the awareness of being a credible reality in a league full of ambitious and wealthy clubs.
