CATANZARO – 29 MAY 2025. The countdown has begun leading up to Saturday June 7, at 8:30 pm, when the Teatro Comunale di Catanzaro will host a show that goes beyond the stage, beyond fiction, beyond every barrier. “Uomo e Galantuomo”, performed by the young people of the Catanzaro Juvenile Penal Institute, is much more than a theatrical performance: it is a gesture of courage, an act of love, a project of shared humanity.
The event – promoted by the Acsa&Ste ETS association and the Catanzaro Criminal Bar Association, in collaboration with the Catanzaro Juvenile Penal Institute, the Teatro Comunale, the Present&Future Agency and with the valuable support of the “Renato Dulbecco” University Hospital, led by extraordinary commissioner Simona Carbone – has a concrete goal: to raise funds for the hospital’s pediatric wards, giving dreams and hope to young patients.
The evening is part of the broader commitment of the Acsa&Ste ETS association, which for years has been dedicated to fulfilling the wishes expressed by hospitalized children, especially after the end of cancer treatments. A deep and delicate commitment, which has the greatest meaning: to give a smile, an experience, a dream to those who have experienced suffering too soon. A family trip, a concert, a special toy or an unexpected meeting become the promise of a possible future, a tangible symbol of rebirth.
This time, however, the dreams will be fulfilled by young people who are themselves seeking redemption. The young inmates of the Catanzaro Juvenile Penal Institute, guided by director Rodolfo Calaminici, will bring to the stage the work of Eduardo De Filippo, but even more they will bring themselves, with the desire to show that anyone can change, that behind every mistake there is a person who can be reborn if given a chance.
“It is a project that brings together education, culture, empathy and social responsibility,” say Dr. Giuseppe Raiola, president of Acsa&Ste ETS and the president of the “Cantafora” Criminal Bar Association, lawyer Francesco Iacopino –. We help sick children, but we also restore dignity to young people too often labeled and forgotten. It is an educational battle that we must all fight together.”
The show is also the result of a strong synergy between justice, healthcare, volunteering, and the community. It is proof that when institutions network, projects are born that change lives, inside and outside the prison walls.
It will be an experience that moves, that inspires, that teaches. To help children achieve a dream. And to give strength to those who are fighting to build a different future.
