As part of the ongoing activity of prevention and fight against widespread crime in the area,
the attention of the Anti-Crime Police Division in recent days has focused on some neighborhoods
of Catanzaro, notoriously inhabited and frequented by people of Roma ethnicity, with the aim of curbing
the illegal conduct carried out and recorded there over time.
The thorough investigative activity carried out made it possible to highlight the social danger of three men
residing in Catanzaro, aged 32, 23, and 21, belonging to the so-called "clan of the gypsies"; burdened by numerous
police records and, as such, deserving of particular attention and surveillance.
The first had on several occasions been reported to the Judicial Authority for aggravated theft,
criminal association, damage, resistance to a public official, and personal injury;
furthermore, he was recently convicted with a final sentence for the crime of invasion of land and
defacement of others' property.
The 23-year-old was responsible, between 2022 and 2024, for the crimes of carrying weapons or objects suitable
for offending and possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing; for the latter behavior,
he was also convicted with a final judgment.
The other subject, despite his young age, has shown a marked tendency to commit crimes,
carrying out various illegal behaviors repeatedly reported by both State Police personnel and
the Carabinieri. In fact, he had police records for non-compliance with
authority measures, possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing, personal injury,
and driving vehicles without the necessary license.
Due to the demonstrated social danger, the Public Security Authority has issued against them
a provision of aggravated oral warning, imposing specific restrictions and particular prohibitions
regarding the possession and use of communication devices, modified means of transport,
pyrotechnic products and weapons even with low offensive capacity, and computer programs and tools.
The preventive measure adopted constitutes a clear warning for the recipients: any
violation is punished with a prison sentence of up to three years and with the seizure of the things or
means used despite the prescribed prohibition. Furthermore, in case of repetition and non-compliance with the
provision, the Provincial Public Security Authority may propose to the Court to issue the
Special Public Security Surveillance provision.
