Sellia Marina, Belcastro and Miglierina awarded the Green Ear in Rome for good practices in environmental sustainability, land management, quality agriculture, and enhancement of the landscape
Walter Placida: this recognition adds to the Blue Flag
The president of the Province Mormile: results that make us proud and encourage us to continue supporting local development policies
"In Rome, the prestigious Green Ear 2025 award was given to the City of Sellia Marina, assigned by FEE Italia (Foundation for Environmental Education). This is a historic achievement, as for the first time our City is included among the Italian rural localities awarded for good practices in environmental sustainability, land management, quality agriculture, and enhancement of the landscape," begins the mayor of Sellia Marina, Walter Placida, not hiding his satisfaction. "This recognition - he specifies - adds to the Blue Flag already obtained for our coastline, making Sellia Marina the only city in the central-south of Calabria to hold both awards: a result that fills us with pride and rewards the daily commitment of the municipal administration, local operators, associations, and all citizens. I would also like to extend my sincerest congratulations to the municipalities of Belcastro and Miglierina, who have also had their Green Ear recognition confirmed this year. Their consistency and vision represent a virtuous model for the entire area of our district.
The recognition obtained - concludes the mayor of Sellia Marina Walter Placida - is a further incentive to continue on this path, investing with determination in environmental quality, sustainability, and a development model that puts people and the territory at the center." The president of the Province of Catanzaro, Mario Amedeo Mormile, expresses, on behalf of the entire Province of Catanzaro, "the warmest congratulations to the municipalities of Belcastro, Miglierina, and Sellia Marina for the important recognition obtained in Rome with the awarding of the Green Ear 2025 which - recalls president Mormile - rewards the municipalities that stand out. A special applause goes to Belcastro and Miglierina, who see this recognition confirmed, a sign of the continuity and constant commitment of their respective administrations in enhancing the natural and agricultural heritage. A special mention, instead, to the city of Sellia Marina, a new entry among the awarded realities, which stands out in an exemplary way: it is in fact the only municipality in the central-south of Calabria to be able to boast, at the same time, both the Green Ear and the Blue Flag. These results make us proud, as a provincial institution, and encourage us to continue to support local development policies that put sustainability, landscape protection, and the enhancement of our communities at the center. Sincere congratulations to the administrators - concludes the president of the Province of Catanzaro Mario Amedeo Mormile - to the citizens and to all those who, with commitment and vision, have contributed to this achievement." The founder and president of the Mar Jonio Award, Luigi Stanizzi, takes the opportunity to emphasize the fundamental role of virtuous administrations in giving the best image of our land, with consequent concrete benefits for the environment, the economy, culture, and the community.
