In Catanzaro, the soldiers of the Radiomobile Section of the local Carabinieri Company, as part of the usual territorial control services aimed at combating drug-related crimes in the capital, arrested in flagrante delicto a 32-year-old of foreign origin for the crime of possession with intent to distribute narcotic substances.
The man, who had multiple criminal and police records related to drugs, upon seeing the officers passing through the city center, allegedly tried to avoid identification by suddenly walking in the opposite direction to the Carabinieri patrol.
In light of the man's behavior and a strong smell coming from his backpack, attributable to narcotic substances, the officers first carried out a personal search, finding inside the backpack 18 grams of marijuana and 15 grams of hashish, divided into doses, and subsequently a home search which led to the seizure of a further approximately 187 grams of marijuana and 30 grams of hashish, also divided into various types of packages.
Following the investigations, the person was arrested in flagrante delicto for the alleged possession with intent to distribute narcotic substances and, by order of the Judicial Authority, placed under house arrest. The measure was subsequently confirmed at the validation hearing held today.
The criminal proceedings are still pending in the preliminary investigation phase.
