From Canada to Catanzaro for a week of full immersion dedicated to music and traditional Calabrian culture. This is the initiative entitled “A Mediterranean Dream Retreat Percussion & Cultural Experience” organized by the KoSA Music Academy based in Montreal (Canada), in collaboration with the Catanzaro Jazz Fest and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, which is hosting a group of participants from abroad for music and percussion workshops at the Conservatory’s headquarters in Palazzo Stella. An opportunity to showcase Calabrian cultural and identity heritage, but also to share experiential journeys to discover the area and its traditions. With the founders and directors of KoSA, Aldo Mazza and Jolán Kovács, there are several participants from the USA and Canada involved in the activities by Conservatory teachers Danilo Gatto and Roberto Rossi and other musicians, trainers, and experts such as Antonio Petitto, Andrea Bressi, Alessandro Marzano, Francesco Panaro, and Roberta Giuditta.
“It is the first time that the important Montreal organization has reached Catanzaro and this demonstrates the level of reputation and quality that the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, together with the Catanzaro Jazz Fest, has been able to build over time, helping to enhance the potential of the capital as a destination for international exchanges,” comments Mayor Nicola Fiorita. “I welcome all the guests and thank the organizers for having put together this valuable experience, which will also help to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of the city. The hope is that the networked work carried out in the cultural field will continue to grow stronger, always finding support and listening from the municipal administration to ensure development and continuity.”
