The Carabinieri of the Soverato Company arrested a 35-year-old in the act, as he is strongly suspected of the crimes of theft and attempted extortion.

In Soverato, on the Cristoforo Colombo seafront, a young man allegedly took possession of an American Staffordshire dog, stealing it from a local boy and demanded the sum of €500.00 in cash for the return of the animal, but was immediately tracked down and stopped by officers from the Satriano Carabinieri Station, who also found the dog and returned it to its rightful owner. 

The arrested individual was placed under house arrest pending trial, at the end of which the Judge of the Catanzaro Court validated the arrest, applying the measure of house arrest with an electronic bracelet.

The related proceedings are pending in the preliminary investigation phase.
