The promotional body would like to make it its operational headquarters and a tourist info point
assuming exclusive responsibility for its maintenance.
In the application sent to the municipal offices via certified email, the association stated that art. 2 of
Regional Law no. 22/2020 recognizes PRO LOCO as “basic tools for the promotion and
enhancement of the natural, artistic, historical, and cultural resources of the area” and that art. 10 of
the same law provides that municipalities may enter into agreements with them “for the free use
of municipal premises and equipment.”
The Pro Loco, in a note released on social media, emphasized that, after the concessions to the
previous assignees expired, it does not appear that the two structures have been allocated to other uses or have been
subject to conservation interventions, with the risk that their deterioration may become irreversible.
Hence the request for a concession “to the undersigned association, pursuant to art. 10 Regional Law No. 22/2020, for the
exclusive use, for a minimum duration of four years starting from July 2025, of one of the two wooden kiosks
located on the Giovino seafront, preferably the one bearing the sign 'Kalabrian H2O',
so that it may be used as the operational headquarters for its institutional activities under an agreement with the
Municipality of Catanzaro, undertaking, as a result, to bear the ordinary conservation
and maintenance costs and not to carry out commercial activities inside it.”
