The Jazz Itinera Festival continues tirelessly to schedule jazz music events in our
region. Thursday, July 31 at 9:30 pm at Locale Ethos in Catanzaro, there will be the third event
with Andrea Paternostro 4tet.
Andrea Paternostro is a saxophonist and composer born in 2002 in Cassano All’Ionio (CS).
He has performed at festivals such as Peperoncino Jazz Festival, Jonio Jazz Festival, Play Music Festival,
Festival Delle Serre, Reggio In Jazz, International Tyrrhenian Jazz Festival, and many others. And in clubs such as
Gregory’s Jazz Club, Milestone Piacenza Jazz Club, Alcazar, Charity Café, Bonaventura Music Club,
Boogie Club, Elegance Café Jazz Club, and many others.
He has collaborated with musicians such as Joan Chamorro, Scarlet Rivera, Ray Brown Jr., Walter Ricci, Giuseppe
Bassi, Luca Filastro, Tommy Bradascio, Alessandro Presti, Marco Valeri, Alessandro Napolitano,
Vincenzo Florio, Francesco Lento, Gianluca Figliola, Leo Caligiuri, Andrea Candela, and many others.
He has won numerous awards, first absolute prize of the “Paolo Randazzo” award in the soloist category; he won a
scholarship for the Nuoro Jazz seminars at the “Premio Internazionale Massimo Urbani”; he was a semifinalist
at the “Vittoria Rotary Jazz Award”; at the “Nuoro Jazz” seminars he won a scholarship for re-enrollment
to the “Nuoro Jazz” seminars the following year. In 2017 he won the “Full Tuition Scholarship Five Week
Summer Performance Program” at “Berklee at Umbria Jazz Clinics”. In 2018 he placed third
at the “Premio Internazionale Massimo Urbani”; he won the “Premio Marco Tamburini Calabria
Jazz Meeting Award 2018”. In 2020 he was a finalist at the national “Chicco Bettinardi” competition in the
soloist category; he was a finalist at the “Music First Jazz Contest” with the Andrea Paternostro Quintet. In 2024 he won
first prize at the “Roma Jazz Contest”. In 2025 he won first prize at the national
“Chicco Bettinardi” competition.
The group accompanying Andrea Paternostro will be composed of Egidio Ventura on piano, Mimmo
de Paola on double bass, and Maurizio Mirabelli on drums.
