The Piterà fountain has been vandalized. The perpetrators of the act were even able to irreparably damage the threading of the elbow, which is cemented inside the fountain itself. This made immediate repair of the damage impossible, although municipal technicians, by working on the water pressure, managed to minimize the loss while still ensuring that citizens could get water. Precisely because of the seriousness of the damage caused, the repair will take place as soon as possible, next week and depending on any other water emergencies that may arise.

"An act that deeply outrages us," commented the Councillor for Public Works, Pasquale Squillace, "the work of some irresponsible person lacking civic sense and unable to understand the value of public goods, as most people from Catanzaro do. The outrage will certainly be theirs too, because the damage then affects the municipal coffers, which belong to all citizens and certainly not to those who administer the city. We," added the councillor, "can only repair the damage and intervene promptly. Just as we did on another symbolic fountain, the Cavatore, invaded by rubbish that some little hand enjoys throwing in. And don't tell us it's the wind's fault, because two interventions three days apart to clear the filters can't be a coincidence. The Cavatore, therefore, like Piterà," concluded Squillace, "is the target of a few who harm everyone with uncivil acts that deserve the strongest condemnation from those who truly care about our Catanzaro."
