The listening and support service for elderly people living alone in Catanzaro during the summer period will start on Monday, July 28. Thus, this year as well, the SOS Heat project is renewed, promoted by the Social Policies sector of the Municipality of Catanzaro, aimed at supporting vulnerable groups during the hottest season, activating the network of services in the area for elderly people over 65 who live alone, or in any case without caregivers, and lacking a neighborhood network. The activities will be carried out by the volunteer organization “Univocz” and the Social Promotion Association “Regalati un Sorriso,” who responded to the call for expressions of interest issued by the administration. The operators will guarantee the telephone listening service through the dedicated toll-free number 800151110, active from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day, including holidays. The same volunteers, if needed, will offer guidance activities to social, social-assistance, social-health, and health resources available in the area, in order to meet daily needs such as the delivery of medicines or groceries. SOS Heat will be available until next August 31.
