Note from the President of the Province of Catanzaro
I wish to express, on behalf of the entire Province of Catanzaro, my heartfelt congratulations to the municipalities of
Belcastro, Miglierina, and Sellia Marina for the important recognition received today in Rome with
the awarding of the Spiga Verde 2025.
The Spiga Verde, an award given by the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), honors
municipalities that stand out for their environmental sustainability policies in rural areas, promoting good
practices in agriculture, land management, environmental education, and landscape protection.
A special commendation goes to Belcastro and Miglierina, who have had this recognition confirmed, a sign of the
continuity and constant commitment of their respective administrations in enhancing their
natural and agricultural heritage.
A special mention, instead, to the city of Sellia Marina, a new entry among the award-winning communities, which
stands out in an exemplary way: it is, in fact, the only municipality in central-southern Calabria that can boast,
at the same time, both the Spiga Verde and the Blue Flag. A double recognition that testifies to
the excellence of the work carried out in the environmental, tourism, and quality of life sectors, making it a
virtuous model for the entire territory.
These results make us proud as a provincial institution and encourage us to continue supporting
local development policies that focus on sustainability, landscape protection, and the enhancement
of our communities.
Heartfelt congratulations to the administrators, citizens, and all those who, with commitment and vision, have
contributed to this achievement.
