This year too, Catanzaro is present on the issues of sea safety by joining the World Drowning Prevention Day. The event, promoted by the FEE in all Blue Flag Municipalities, will be held on Friday, July 25 on the Giovino seafront and simultaneously with other Italian beaches participating in the initiative. The aim of the awareness day organized by the municipal administration is to raise awareness and inform about the need to prevent drownings, promoting a meeting between institutions and operators and organizing practical demonstrations on sea safety and first aid operations. The event will start with the opening of the stands at 5:00 pm, followed by institutional greetings and the simulation of possible rescue interventions at the Coco Beach bathing establishment and beach area. Throughout the day, lifeguards at the various Giovino beaches will also explain to those present what to do in case of drowning danger.
The invitation from the deputy mayor in charge of sea policies, Giusy Iemma, was positively received by organizations involved in safety, rescue, and health care, volunteer organizations active in the Catanzaro area and committed to safeguarding life and preventing water accidents. This is a constantly relevant issue that concerns the entire community closely, especially in a high-risk period like summer. The administration thanks all those who wanted to participate: Port Authority-Coast Guard, Calabria Army Military Command, Fire Brigade, Local Police, Municipal Civil Protection Group, Italian Red Cross, National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps, FIN Lifesaving, SICS Italian School of Rescue Dogs, SIMEUP-Italian Society of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Mondo Parallelo, Plastic Free, Lions Catanzaro Host, Pianeta Droni.
