Press release from city councilor Rosario Mancuso.
“The “Schermi” festival represents a wonderful moment of gathering and socializing that brings cinema to the neighborhoods of Catanzaro. Last night in Gagliano there was a significant response from the community, which came together to watch a classic comedy like “I due marescialli” with Totò. A title chosen from the favorite films of the emerging actor Giuseppe Scoditti, the first guest of the program promoted by the Divina Mania association, directed by Mauro Lamanna, and with the participation of the Municipality of Catanzaro.
The administration did well to focus so much on a project created by young people who care about the city and which not only allows for pleasant evenings in the heart of summer, but also spreads the art of cinema in areas usually kept away from the spotlight. In this sense, the next two stops also have particular value because they will involve, tonight, Tuesday, July 22, viale Isonzo and tomorrow Santa Maria, through an itinerant route that is renewed each time through the curiosity and participation of the people, discussing topics that have cultural and social significance.
A successful initiative, born in Catanzaro, and this year will also land in other regions: it means that good things can also be born in our latitudes, enhancing the talents and ideas of young professionals. Schermi can help export what is a positive example produced in the capital and which certainly deserves to be supported to grow and take root even more.”
