Note from the Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Demographic Services, Giusy Iemma
The issues reported by Councillors Costanzo and Lobello, particularly regarding waiting times at the registry office counters and the functionality of the decentralized office in the maritime district, are under constant monitoring by the Administration, which is aware of the inconvenience this may cause citizens.
However, I would like to emphasize that the current context, common to many public administrations, is strongly affected by a structural shortage of resources, both human and economic. This objective difficulty is further compounded, especially during the summer period, by the need to ensure that staff can rightfully take their holidays, which further contributes to a temporary reduction in the operational capacity of the offices; offices that throughout the year already have to face and manage the aforementioned shortages.
Despite these difficulties, it is my duty—and remains a top priority for me—to guarantee the most efficient service possible to users, in full compliance with the roles and regulatory constraints that govern administrative action.
We will work, as always, with a constructive spirit to overcome the current issues, also considering, where possible, temporary organizational solutions to limit the reported inconveniences while awaiting final decisions aimed at optimizing the service.
Finally, I would like to thank Councillors Costanzo and Lobello for their prompt reporting and assure them that the interests of the citizens remain at the center of the municipal administration’s actions.
