Event Description:
Last year's event saw the participation of family members, friends, representatives of institutions and local associations, who competed in a friendly match on the sports fields created by Franco Bitonte in 1988. The evening ended with the presentation of commemorative plaques, a reception, and a fireworks show.
Biography of Franco Bitonte:
Franco Bitonte (1950 – 2023) was an entrepreneur from Catanzaro known for his commitment to promoting the economic and social development of the city. In 1988, he founded the “Girasole” sports center, which became a point of reference for sports and social life in Catanzaro. In addition to the sports sector, Bitonte also worked in waste management and catering, contributing to the growth of various local economic sectors. His dedication to the community and his entrepreneurial vision left a significant mark on the city. Upon his passing in July 2023 at the age of 73, he left behind his wife Rosa Caserta and children Elena, Dante, and Francesco, who continue to carry on the values he passed down.
