The main hall of the Army Command "Calabria" hosted the handover ceremony in the Rotary
Club Catanzaro Tre Colli between President Giuseppe Caputo and President Maria Vittoria Raschellà. After the greetings to the numerous
Rotarian and civil authorities by Club Prefect Rosa Felicetti, Col. Ugo Gaeta, Military Commander of the Army "Calabria", in his welcome speech highlighted the closeness of
the objectives and aims of his Command to those of Rotary with respect to the Calabrian community, hoping for an effective and lasting collaboration with the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre Colli and the entire Rotary District 2102 Calabria. In her speech, the Governor of Rotary District 2102 for the Rotary Year 2024-25 Maria Pia Porcino, congratulated the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre Colli for its active and, at times,
decisive participation in the District's activities during her year, presenting certificates of merit to both President Caputo and the Club. The
President Giuseppe Caputo highlighted, through the screening of a video, the numerous Service activities that the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre Colli carried out in the just-ended Rotary year: culture, energy, youth (Ryla2025), South, world hunger (Rise Against Hunger), health prevention, family, eradication of polio (End Polio Now), nutrition, promotion of typical products –
these are some of the Services carried out by the Club.
During the continuation of the Ceremony, the Past President Carlo Maria Comito presented to Past President Rocco Reina the highest Rotarian honor - the “Paul Harris Fellow” (PHF) - as recognition for
the important contribution of professionalism, dedication, and generosity given to the Service life of the Club. It was at this point in the Ceremony that the symbolic “passing of the collar” to the new President Maria Vittoria Raschellà took place, who, in her programmatic speech,
immediately expressed her main objective, which is to increase the participation of each Club member in the realization of Services in favor of the Community. Maternal and child health, literacy and basic education, economic development, prevention and treatment of diseases, peacebuilding and
conflict prevention, hygiene, environment and sustainable energy, action for youth; these are the themes that will be developed in the Services by the Members of the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre Colli
in the just-started Rotary Year 2025-26, perfectly in line with the international motto
of the current Rotary Year: “United to
do good.” The Club Board was presented
which will support President Raschellà, composed of: Pietro Cinaglia (Vice President and Treasurer); Giuseppe Caputo (Past President); Rocco Reina (Secretary); Rosa Felicetti (Prefect); Domenico Angotti (Counselor); Enzo Ioppoli (Counselor); Quintino Jirillo
(Counselor); Carlo Maria Comito (Executive Secretary); Cristina Mancuso (co-Treasurer).
President Raschellà then welcomed the new Club Member Rosalba Paletta – teacher and journalist, who confidently recited the “ritual formula” of admission to the Club and thanked, both for the affectionate words of the Presenting Member Valentina Amato, and all the Club Members
who unanimously wanted her admission to the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre
Colli. A greeting to the prestigious assembly
was brought by the Governor Nominee
2027-28 Enzo Defilippo of DR2102, Founding Member and Dean of the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre Colli, who wanted to emphasize how the important assignment entrusted to him for the Rotary Year 2027-28 will not prevent him from always being at the service of our Club, fostering the growth of its potential and
prestige. A particularly
emotional moment of the speech by Governor Nominee 2027-28 Enzo Defilippo was the admission as Honorary Member in the Club of Carmela Dromì, Rotarian of RC Lamezia Terme, always very close to the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre Colli, who with this act shares its example, commitment, and sense of
Rotarian belonging. The conclusions were entrusted to the Governor of Rotary District 2102 Dino
De Marco who, thanking for the welcome in the city of Catanzaro, brought warm wishes to the entire Club and to the new President Raschellà, with whom he has long been carrying out district projects that will see the Rotary Club Catanzaro Tre Colli as the lead Club. In the adjoining “Cloister of the Capuchin Convent* of the 16th century, a convivial and greeting moment followed that amazed the guests - coming from all over Calabria - for the beauty of the jewel it represents; an evening that thus enlivened an unknown site of our beloved Catanzaro, which has many valuable structures to experience and to make known, some even unknown to most. The founder and president of the Mar Jonio Prize, Luigi Stanizzi, took the opportunity to highlight the fundamental role of service clubs for the social and cultural development of our land.
