 The details of the program will be revealed at the press conference scheduled for Monday, July 21, at 11:30 am, at the Soverato Town Hall, in the presence of Artistic Director Gianvito Casadonte, Soverato Mayor Daniele Vacca, Deputy Mayor Lele Amoruso, and the President of the Calabria Film Commission, Anton Giulio Grande.  


After the announcement of the special event evening on July 14 with Francis Ford Coppola and the screening of Megalopolis, of the Festival Ambassador Denise Capezza, of Margherita Buy, Toni Servillo and Marco Giallini awarded with the Colonna d’Oro for Lifetime Achievement, the guest list of the Magna Graecia Film Festival 2025 , conceived by brothers Alessandro and Gianvito Casadonte, dedicated to first works and emerging authors and which will be held in Soverato from July 26 to August 2.

In fact, Kim Rossi Stuart will also arrive in Soverato, who will be the protagonist of a conversation on the arena stage moderated by journalist and documentarian Fabrizio Corallo, Giancarlo Esposito who will hold a masterclass conducted by the head of international first works Silvia Bizio and will receive the prestigious Colonna D’Oro and Serena Rossi who, on the final evening, will receive the Colonna D’Oro.

The MGFF is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Calabria Straordinaria – brand of the Calabria Region – Department of Tourism – Calabria Film Commission and Municipality of Soverato. The Colonna d'Oro awards given during the festival are made by the GB Spadafora Brand.

Giancarlo Esposito, American actor, director and producer, born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to an Italian father and an African-American mother. He is known for his iconic role as Gustavo "Gus" Fring in the series "Breaking Bad", for which he won the Critics' Choice Award in 2012 and received an Emmy nomination in the same year. He reprised the role in "Better Call Saul", earning further Emmy nominations and winning the Critics' Choice Award in 2023.

Esposito has acted in numerous films and TV series, including "The Mandalorian", "The Boys", "Dear White People", "Westworld", "Once Upon a Time", "The Get Down", "Drunk History" and "Community". He has also appeared in films such as "Beauty", "Stargirl", "Okja", "Coda", "Maze Runner: The Death Cure", "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials", "Rabbit Hole", "The Usual Suspects", "Smoke", "The Last Holiday" and several Spike Lee films. He began his career in theater, debuting on Broadway in the musical "Maggie Flynn" in 1968. He also starred in the original production of "Merrily We Roll Along" by Stephen Sondheim and Harold Prince. Recently, Esposito was seen in "Parish" by AMC, where he is also executive producer, and starred in "Megalopolis" by Francis Ford Coppola, "The Electric State" by the Russo brothers and "Captain America: Brave New World" from the Marvel Universe.

 

Serena Rossi after her debut in theater with “C’era una volta… Scugnizzi”, the successful musical written by Claudio Mattone and Enrico Vaime, is among the protagonists of “Un Posto al Sole and in the following years of numerous successful series for Rai and Mediaset such as “Il Commissario Montalbano”, “Il clan dei camorristi”, “Sant’Agostino”, “Adriano Olivetti”, “Che Dio ci Aiuti”, “L’ispettore Coliandro”.

She returns to the theater with the role of Rosetta in "Rugantino” by Garinei and Giovannini, a musical comedy with which from Teatro Sistina she arrives at the New York City Center on Broadway.

On the big screen she stars in the successful film by the Manetti Bros “Song ‘e Napule” (2012) and the comedies “Al Posto Tuo”, “Troppo Napoletano” and “Caccia al tesoro”. At the 75th Venice International Film Festival she is in competition with “Ammore e Malavita” by the Manetti Bros, for which performance she wins a David di Donatello, a Nastro d’Argento and a Ciak d’Oro.

Brave Ragazze” by Michela Andreozzi and “7 ore per farti innamorare” by Giampaolo Morelli earn her a nomination for the Nastri d’Argento as best leading actress in a comedy in 2020 and for the Ciak d’Oro as best leading actress. In the same year she stars in “Lasciami andare” by Stefano Mordini, which is presented at the 77th Venice Film Festival.

After the streaming release of “La tristezza ha il sonno leggero” by Marco Mario de Notaris, she is waiting to present in theaters the highly anticipated “Diabolik” by the Manetti Bros.

 

She plays Mia Martini in the film “Io sono Mia” by Riccardo Donna, presented at the Sanremo Festival, where Serena achieves her definitive consecration as an actress and singer, winning a Special Nastro d’Argento and a nomination as best leading actress at the Ciak d’Oro. As a voice actress she lends her voice to various Walt Disney characters: she is Princess Anna in the “Frozen” saga, she is Cinderella in “Into the Woods” and is the singing voice of Emily Blunt in “Mary Poppins Returns”. Music is a constant in Serena Rossi’s artistic career and plays a decisive role in her abilities.

It is for this passion and talent that, at a very young age, she recorded two albums and in 2014 joined the Rai 1 program “Tale e Quale Show”, hosted by Carlo Conti, winning for 2 consecutive years.

From that moment she also began a career as a TV host: from “Celebration”, “Da qui a un anno” to “Cinepop” up to the program “Canzone Segreta”.

In 2021 and 2022 she is directed by Tiziana Aristarco in “Mina Settembre”, a record-breaking Raiuno series, freely inspired by the stories of Maurizio de Giovanni. Also in 2021 Serena is chosen as Godmother at the Venice Film Festival and is in the cast of “Diabolik” by the Manetti Bros. In 2022 she stars in “La Sposa” and “Mina Settembre 2”, Rai1 fiction with which she achieved very high ratings, hosts “Danza con Me”, Roberto Bolle’s program, and starred in the Sky Original comedy “Beata Te”.

In 2024 she is the protagonist of an episode of “Call My Agent 2” aired on Sky and returns to the set for the third season of Mina Settembre, airing on Rai1 in 2025. She is also filming “Il Treno dei Bambini” by Cristina Comencini, a film based on the novel by Viola Ardone and made for Netflix, and is in the Disney series “Uonderbois”.

In 2025 in the songs of the Italian version of the new Disney film Snow White” Serena Rossi is the Evil Queen and treads the stages of the most prestigious theaters in Italy with her theatrical show “SereNata a Napoli”.
