Note from the councillor delegated to the enhancement of the historic center , Daniela Palaia
There is a new collaboration agreement that has just started, between the Municipality and the Kyosei social cooperative, with the latter taking care of the redevelopment, regeneration, setup, and beautification of Piazzetta della Libertà on Corso Mazzini.
The agreement was signed last July 15 and the next day the cooperative's workers were already at work, as well as having improvised a moment of joyful socializing with the many people who crowded the historic center for the patronal festival. All this, while waiting for the “Cose” project to start next autumn.
So there is a new activity about to be born in the heart of the city and those setting it up have also chosen to “adopt” the surrounding space. Until now, collaboration agreements have been made between the Municipality and citizens. This agreement is therefore a first: it involves a new activity that, however, takes on a global responsibility, because it brings together a solidarity enterprise and care for common goods.
It is also the first agreement to be signed and to fall right in the historic center—a second, previous one was signed some time ago and concerned the Longo park, thus on the border of Porta di Mare—but it confirms that the intuition to regulate collaboration between the Municipality and citizens was a politically successful one, a bet on the desire of the people of Catanzaro to feel part of a living, lively community, animated by deep ties to the places of our history.
The agreement for Piazzetta della Libertà is, in this sense, also a beautiful cameo set in a patronal festival that was an evident success, a moment of participation and full joy, beyond any reasonable doubt.
The hope is that there will be many more cameos from now on, with new openings and new collaborations. On the part of the Administration, all the commitment, as it has been so far, so that this hope comes true.
