State Police searches in blocks of buildings between Catanzaro and the Lido district:
weapons, ammunition, and cutting substances intended for drug dealing seized.
During the past night, as part of an intense monitoring activity aimed at controlling
widespread crime in the area, the State Police conducted a massive
search operation at several targets between Catanzaro and Catanzaro Lido.
Checks were carried out on numerous convicted individuals in the Viale Isonzo
housing complex. The effective work of the Flying Squad officers of the Police Headquarters made it possible
to find 350 grams of cutting substance, two rifles, one of which was stolen in 2022, two
pistols with erased serial numbers, magazines, and about 200 rounds of ammunition, all hidden inside a
stairwell compartment specially walled up.
For judicial investigations, the Mobile Squad intervened on site, together with the
Scientific Police who carried out the necessary specialized surveys.
At the same time, ATERP will be notified for the relevant checks on the structure.
With the operation by the Flying Squad, it was possible to identify and eliminate a cold hideout
where criminal factions residing in the area had cleverly hidden ready-to-use weapons, well
lubricated and perfectly functioning, which have thus been removed from use by organized crime.
Patrolling operations in the southern area will continue to ensure the peaceful conduct
of nightlife related to the summer season.
