“The effects of strengthening summer surveillance services by the Police in the seaside district have already been seen since the beginning of July, with the aim of ensuring greater control and safety especially in the places and times of nightlife. Credit must be given to the Chief of Police of Catanzaro, Giuseppe Linares, for the particular attention dedicated to the issue of safety in Lido, on the occasion of the season when there is a greater influx of citizens and tourists. For this period, being able to have an additional ten police officers as reinforcements certainly means being able to guarantee a more widespread and continuous presence and monitoring, making evenings on the seafront more peaceful and also responding to the needs of operators.
Work in the field of public order is increasingly necessary if we want to enhance the tourist vocation of the seaside district and encourage the increase of visitors and investments in a growing area. This very objective was the aim of the request that Mayor Nicola Fiorita carried forward, representing the community's needs, at regular meetings with Prefect De Rosa and Chief of Police Linares - and with the active commitment of Undersecretary of the Interior, Wanda Ferro - which resulted in a concrete and tangible outcome. The hope is that a greater presence of the Police will become increasingly structured and permanent, acting especially in terms of prevention and awareness.”
