A citizen went this morning to the Emergency Room of the "Pugliese" Hospital in Catanzaro due to an eye problem. After waiting for his turn, the doctor on duty informed him that for several months the facility has no longer had an ophthalmology department.
As a result, the intervention of an ambulance from the University Hospital of Germaneto was requested. However, the ambulance arrived without any medical staff on board, making it impossible to transport the patient, who was ultimately forced to leave without receiving any assistance.
We ask ourselves, and we ask the Health Commissioner of Calabria, Hon. Roberto Occhiuto: is all this acceptable?
Is it tolerable that a citizen, in need, is bounced between healthcare facilities and abandoned without care?
Tomorrow we will submit a formal complaint to the General Management and the Health Management of the Pugliese Hospital.
