Extraordinary preview of the Magna Graecia Film
Festival
On July 14 in Soverato
with Francis Ford Coppola and his monumental work
Megalopolis
The Oscar-winning director Francis Ford Coppola, known for masterpieces such as The
Godfather, Apocalypse Now, and The Outsiders, will be the special guest on Monday,
July 14, for an evening at the Supercinema in
Soverato (CZ).
The event, which marks the lead-up to the official inauguration
of the Magna Graecia Film Festival conceived by brothers Alessandro and Gianvito
Casadonte, will begin at 5:30 pm and will feature an interactive conversation
entitled “How To Change Our Future” with the legendary director,
who on this occasion will also receive the coveted Colonna d’Oro and the
screening of the monumental film Megalopolis.
This special event, made possible thanks to the work of the head
of international debut works Silvia Bizio, offers fans a unique opportunity
to experience the film, currently not available on any streaming platform,
exactly as Coppola envisioned it.
“This is the way Megalopolis was meant to be seen: in a
large theater, with an audience, and followed by intense interactive discussions about
the future,” said Coppola.
The Magna Graecia Film Festival (MGFF), founded and directed by Gianvito
Casadonte and now in its twenty-second edition, will offer from July 26 to August 2
a rich program of events and film screenings. The
competitions will include sections dedicated to Italian debut works and
documentaries, curated by Antonio Capellupo, and to international debut works,
curated by Silvia Bizio, who is also responsible for conversations with international talents. The new feature this year is the addition of a section directed
by Jacopo Curcio and Luca Capacchione, which will present a selection of the
best short film debuts, thus enriching the proposal and the cultural mission
of the Festival, which has always been attentive to the promotion and enhancement of
young talents.
The MGFF is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Calabria Straordinaria –
brand of the Calabria Region – Department of Tourism – Calabria Film
Commission and Municipality of Soverato. The Colonne d'Oro awarded
during the festival are made by the GB Spadafora Brand.
