“Next Sunday the city of Catanzaro will be the protagonist of a major sporting and symbolic event. The final of the XCalabra Cup 2025 mountain bike race, which will be held in the Pineta di Siano, represents much more than just a competition: it is the concrete sign of the rebirth of a place that is an identity symbol for our community.”
With these words, Sports Councillor Antonio Battaglia presents the event XC Pineta Siano, the final stage of the official circuit of the Italian Cycling Federation, organized by ASD Swattati Team Catanzaro with the support of the municipal administration.
“From the very beginning, we believed in the possibility of restoring life and dignity to an area that, after the devastating fire of 2021, seemed lost – continues Battaglia –. Thanks to a shared effort, made up of environmental interventions, daily care, and vision, the Pineta today once again welcomes children, families, athletes, and nature lovers.”
The cycling route that will host the race – the first officially recognized in the Municipality of Catanzaro by FCI and CONI – is the result of collaboration between the administration, Calabria Verde, technical operators, and the world of sports associations.
“This race is just the beginning. We want the Pineta di Siano to become a regional reference point for outdoor sports and for all those activities capable of enhancing nature as a common good – emphasizes the councillor –. Sport has the power to create community, promote healthy lifestyles, and generate new awareness of the territory we inhabit.”
Finally, Battaglia extends an invitation to citizens, families, and athletes: “Taking part in this event is a way to come together, to support a project of rebirth, and to experience our city as protagonists. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in the Pineta di Siano, for a day of sport, nature, and sharing.”
