Online, from June 21, 2025, is the new website 112.gov.it, the multilingual information portal dedicated
to the European Emergency Number 112 (one, one, two).
The activation date of the new 112.gov.it website was also chosen to remember that on June 21
2010, the first Single Response Center (CUR) of 1 1 2 was activated in Varese, Lombardy.
The new portal, through an intuitive and simple graphic design, provides information on
coverage, usage methods, and accessibility to the Emergency Number.
A section of the site is dedicated to the functionality of the Service and the Single Response Centers and
explains how emergency communications are handled and subsequently routed to
the second-level centers of the State Police, Carabinieri, Fire Brigade, Coast Guard,
or medical emergency services.
A new feature of the portal is the “Most Common Emergencies” area where users can find information sheets
with practical and useful advice on how to manage the initial stages of an emergency while waiting
for help to arrive. Another new element is the section with data relating to
emergency calls, where the number of calls received
by the CURs, those forwarded to the emergency agency, and those “filtered” and therefore not
forwarded to the CURs because they do not require a real operational intervention, will be updated quarterly.
Through an interactive link, you can directly access the 112Deaf service, which is
managed, for the entire national territory, by the Piedmont Region.
Finally, a section is dedicated to the “Where are U” app, the reference application for 112 (one-
one-two), available for all CURs - Single Response Centers and developed by the Lombardy Region.
Its goal is to provide precise location information via GPS in
case of emergency, so that help can be sent quickly and accurately.
The App, moreover, available for free download on iOS and Android, also allows for
“silent” or text-based communications through a dedicated chat.
The site was developed by the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior and is
funded by the European Union with funds from the Next Generation EU program.
