The residents of the Lido district of Catanzaro, and in particular of via Marco Polo, make an urgent appeal to the Municipal Administration to immediately proceed with weeding and cleaning of the area adjacent to the road, where the traditional weekly market is held every Thursday.
In past years, the presence of the Magna Graecia Film Festival guaranteed periodic reclamation and maintenance of the green areas, allowing citizens to live in a safer and more dignified environment. Today, however, the situation has changed dramatically.
As can be seen from the photos, the area is completely overrun by tall and dry weeds, which represent a serious danger especially during these days of intense heat. The residents seriously fear the risk of fires, which could easily break out putting parked cars and the safety of nearby homes at risk.
Furthermore, the affected area is located in the immediate vicinity of the Porto area elementary school, a sensitive place that deserves special attention even during the summer closure period.
The concern grows day by day and, without prompt intervention, a single spark would be enough to cause incalculable damage.
We therefore request prompt action by the competent authorities to restore decorum and safety to an area that, every week, welcomes hundreds of people including residents, visitors, and merchants.
