The Palinuro Ship will dock in Catanzaro to pay a well-deserved tribute to Calabrian maritime traditions and to share with the area an important moment of knowledge and encounter. From August 1 to 4, the famous Navy sailing ship will reach the Lido district to offer citizens and tourists the opportunity to admire what has been, for over 70 years, a symbol of training and an Italian icon recognized and appreciated all over the world. With its 69 meters in length and a main mast 35 meters high, the Palinuro is, in fact, counted among the oldest units and those most historically linked to national maritime traditions and culture, which the Navy preserves among its most precious excellences.

“Together with Mayor Nicola Fiorita, I shared the invitation addressed to the Navy in recent months, so that the Regional Capital City could be honored by the presence of such a prestigious symbol, capable of enhancing, with its imposing image, the Catanzaro marina area,” commented Deputy Mayor with responsibility for maritime policies, Giusy Iemma. “We strongly thank the military corps for responding positively, convinced that the passage of the Palinuro represents for the administration the opportunity to capture the curiosity and participation of citizens, as well as to build a significant tourist and image attraction for the whole area. We therefore hope that this initiative can be an opportunity for the entire community to demonstrate that spirit of hospitality and sharing that has always represented our most authentic image.”
