"The main Calabrian theaters, which in the five provincial capitals play a fundamental role in spreading those performances necessary to keep alive the interest in quality theater and the works that most leave a mark, contributing to the recognition that even in our region we aim high, from today can count on a total funding of two and a half million euros.

These funds are intended for the improvement of infrastructures, for the proper enjoyment of an environment that necessarily must be up to the level of the performances that take place inside. The goal is to increase comfort for better enjoyment and, consequently, greater attendance by the public."

This is what the Councillor for Culture of the Calabria Region, Caterina Capponi, states in reference to the approval of the decree that allocates funding to the provincial capital municipalities and which essentially gives the operational go-ahead to the "Teatro nei Capoluoghi" project, financed with Cipess Resolution number 17 of 23/04/2024 and included among the concerted interventions and included in the Agreement for Development and Cohesion that the Calabria Region signed with the Government on February 16, 2024, using resources from the Development and Cohesion Fund (Fsc) 2021-2027.

"The need, I don't like to call it a concession," emphasizes Caterina Capponi, "to implement this intervention arose from discussions with the administrators of the provincial capitals, who unanimously expressed the need to carry out improvement works on their theater infrastructures. I therefore felt it was my duty to commit myself to meeting their requests, which coincide with the needs of the people who attend the theaters. The Regional Council has therefore decided in this direction, to support this initiative which represents a strategic piece of the broader 2025-27 three-year plan of the regional theater system."
