As part of crime prevention and control activities, following a thorough investigation
by the Anti-Crime Police Division - Prevention Measures Section, the Chief of Police of
Catanzaro has issued two measures against individuals with police records and
recipients of final conviction sentences.
The first measure concerns a 52-year-old man, resident in Cropani, who over time has
received four final convictions for the crimes of escape, driving under the influence, resisting a Public
Official and personal injury, threats, and stalking against his spouse.
The second measure was issued against a 25-year-old from Isca sullo Ionio, with
police records for threats and falsehood or omission in statements. He has also been
referred several times to the Judicial Authority for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing,
a crime for which he was recently definitively convicted.
The conduct of the two individuals has shown a marked social danger, such as to
require particular attention from the Public Security Authority and, as a
consequence, the adoption of measures aimed at ensuring that both maintain conduct
in accordance with the law.
In fact, with the Aggravated Oral Warning measure, which the Chief of Police issues as
Provincial Public Security Authority, against those who have received final convictions
for non-negligent crimes, specific restrictions are imposed on the recipients, with
the aim of dissuading them from persisting in criminal conduct. It is a preventive measure that
is part of the broader framework of crime prevention activities, aimed at
reducing the risk of recidivism and protecting the safety of citizens, to prevent individuals with a
serious criminal record from continuing to pose a threat to the community.
In the event of repeated offenses and non-compliance with the measure, which is punishable by
imprisonment for up to three years and the seizure of things or means used, the Chief of Police may
propose to the Court to issue the Special Public Security Surveillance measure
for offenders.
