Aortic surgery takes center stage in Catanzaro: over 500 pre-registrations for the 9th MAORI Symposium scheduled for Tuesday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 25

CATANZARO – JUNE 21, 2025. The “Salvatore Venuta” Campus of the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro is preparing to host one of the most prestigious scientific events in the national medical landscape: the 9th MAORI Aortic Symposium – Magna Graecia Aortic Interventional Project, scheduled for June 24 and 25, 2025.

The event, now in its ninth biennial edition, confirms itself as a reference point for the scientific community engaged in the study and treatment of aortic diseases. This is evidenced by the nearly 500 pre-registrations already recorded, with attendance expected to exceed all forecasts, given the traditional surge in last-minute sign-ups. A success that reflects the growing national and international interest in a training and scientific project born in 2009 and now an unmissable event for university professors, researchers, specialists, healthcare professionals, and young doctors in training.

Under the direction of Prof. Pasquale Mastroroberto, Full Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Director of the Cardiac Surgery Unit at the “Dulbecco” University Hospital of Catanzaro, the Symposium will maintain its structure divided into six sessions, spread over two days.

The first two will be dedicated respectively to perfusionists and nursing staff, while the remaining sessions will delve into diseases of the aortic valve, root, aortic arch, and thoraco-abdominal aorta.

Among the most anticipated moments, also for the 2025 edition, is the session dedicated to congenital aortic diseases, addressed from both a cardiological and cardiac surgical perspective. The program will conclude with a practical workshop on ECMO – Best Practice Exchange, which will take place at the end of the first day in a specially equipped classroom.

The opening of the event will feature institutional greetings from the esteemed rector of the Magna Graecia University, Giovanni Cuda, and the extraordinary commissioner of the “Dulbecco” University Hospital, Simona Carbone, demonstrating the strong synergy between hospital and university in promoting clinical research and advanced training.

The MAORI Symposium stands out for its high scientific profile and rigorous, multidisciplinary approach. The official languages of the event will be Italian and English, and participation is free, with ECM credits awarded to numerous healthcare professionals including cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, internists, anesthetists, geriatricians, perfusion technicians, nurses, and radiologists.

As Prof. Mastroroberto emphasizes: «The focus and spirit of the MAORI Symposium remain unchanged: to offer top-level updates not only to specialists already involved in the management of aortic diseases, but also to students and postgraduates. It is a unique opportunity to share experiences, discuss new therapies, and build professional synergies between clinical practice, research, and training».

ECM Provider and Organizational Secretariat are entrusted to the agency Present & Future.
