Press release from the Councillor for Urban Planning Giusy Iemma.

“Based on the checks carried out by the municipal technical offices, there is no hydrogeological risk in the area between the Pugliese and Ciaccio hospital facilities. As verified by the technical department, which I consulted, in the current urban planning instrument, in the "Homogeneous Territorial Zone F3 — Services and facilities of supra-municipal level", the area would be compatible with a possible public intervention. From the verification, it can be seen that the area is free of protective and prohibitive constraints, except for a small portion of PAI Hydraulic constraint - adopted and in the process of approval - concerning an existing ditch located at the edge of Viale Pio X. From the cartographic analysis, the area appears for the most part flat - with an access road close to the existing facilities and the main communication routes of the city – and of sufficiently large size to accommodate the related urbanization works. Also, the ownership of the area would be, according to the verification carried out by the technical offices, for the most part public, therefore acquirable through voluntary transfer or expropriation procedure.

In limiting myself to reporting the technical clarifications on the subject, I hope that the choices regarding the location of the new hospital will once again become the subject of a broader and more articulated discussion in the City Council. In this process, it is essential to adhere to a fundamental principle: respect for the right to health of our community."
