"We welcome with great satisfaction the first concrete results following our recent meeting with the management of the “Renato Dulbecco” University Hospital of Catanzaro. We especially thank the extraordinary commissioner, Simona Carbone, and her team for their precise and scrupulous commitment, inspired by best practices already successfully adopted in other Italian healthcare settings. Among the other points at the center of the discussion, which took place a few days ago in our presence and that of Commissioner Carbone, and requested following our numerous public complaints, were the inefficiencies and the endless waiting lists for diagnostic tests and medical visits, which have fueled a growing phenomenon of healthcare mobility.
The “Dulbecco” company has therefore launched an innovative experimental project aimed at reducing waiting times for access to healthcare services. Thanks to this initiative, diagnostic activities will also be extended to weekends, thus significantly increasing availability compared to the usual weekly schedule.
Among the services currently included in the experimental phase: Cardiology exams, Radiology exams, Diagnostic imaging (CT and MRI), General medicine services. The extension of the initiative to surgical activity is also being studied, initially limited to low-complexity procedures.
This measure represents a concrete response to one of the most pressing issues in public healthcare: excessive waiting times for healthcare services. An intervention aimed at structurally improving access to services for all citizens. It should be specified that this choice is not political in nature, but stems from a responsible management vision, oriented towards efficiency and continuous improvement.
We therefore express our full satisfaction for this first, important milestone achieved by the management of the “Renato Dulbecco” company. A milestone that we consider only the beginning: equally ambitious and concrete must be the projects for the construction of the new hospital and a second emergency room, which are fundamental to adequately respond to the growing healthcare needs of the area."
