City councilor Stefano Veraldi has brought to the attention of the commissions the opportunity for the Municipality of Catanzaro to adopt a Protocol for the safe detention and handling of dogs, based on positive models already implemented at the national level. This document is based on five fundamental pillars: detention, care, stationing, handling, and freedom, and aims to train responsible and aware owners, improving safety in the relationship between humans and dogs, including in schools. At the same time, Veraldi has also officially submitted the proposal to launch the educational project called "A 6 zampe" ("On 6 legs"), aimed at students in primary and elementary schools in the municipal area. The request, addressed in particular to the presidents of the second and fourth council commissions, aims to launch in Catanzaro an initiative already successfully tested elsewhere, which aims to teach children how to interpret the language and signals of dogs, promoting safe and respectful coexistence with pets. “Raising awareness among the administration and the entire citizenry about the importance of such initiatives,” Veraldi emphasizes, “is the first step in offering a valid educational contribution to our students. Training new generations on how to care for and respect animals represents not only a sign of civility and ethical sharing, but also a useful commitment to prevent the risk of accidents or aggressive behavior by our four-legged friends."
