"The maintenance of public green spaces in Catanzaro is taking on the contours of a situation out of control that causes damage to hygiene and health, as well as risks to the safety of citizens. As I constantly travel around the area, every day I continue to receive all kinds of complaints about the lack of interventions at a time when, with rising temperatures, vegetation is bound to grow exponentially. On the eve of summer, if by mistake or bad luck some tourist were to pass through our area, what image would we be able to offer as a city? The inefficiencies concern all the authorities, primarily the roads under provincial jurisdiction and those owned by Anas: roundabouts and access roads to the city are in undignified conditions, and moreover, the tall grass greatly reduces visibility for drivers, with significant risks of accidents. And some roads managed by the Municipality are also not exempt.
To date we do not see immediate solutions to the problems and, despite the efforts I make daily as a city councilor, unfortunately I wonder: even for ordinary maintenance, to see essential services guaranteed, do you need to have a saint in paradise? In the meantime, social hatred always hits politics. It's a massacre game that I have no intention of passively witnessing; those who know me know that I have always fought for the good of the city, without looking at political colors. By putting my face to it, I hope that the discontent of the citizens will be heard by the councilors and technical offices. Otherwise, it will only remain to acknowledge that the way of managing public administration has not changed at all compared to the previous twenty years."
Press release from city councilor Francesco Scarpino.
